I have made some head way on readings this week, but I’m still waiting to hear back about edits. I’ve got a manageable list of things to read next week, and I’m hoping to be caught up on my readings by next Friday so I can take the summer off.
This weeks readings were on 18th and 19th Century harmonic theories. I’ve been exploring how different historical authors fit into either Stufentheorie or Funktionestheorie camps. The interesting ones are the ones that have different perspective on Functional Theory than Riemann did. From David Damschroder’s Thinking About Harmony, I discovered some interesting avenues I hope explore next week when I look at Riemann again.
