I meant to finish up my reading list this week, but didn’t have all the books I needed. So instead, I started on analyses for chapter 4. I’m pretty excited. I’ve got a couple small example of how to use Functional Analysis to prep for Schenker graphs, and I’m hoping to do a full Schenkerian Analysis of the Beethoven op 31 n 3 mvt 1 that I analyzed in chapter 3. This morning I drafted a Transformational Theory/Schenker/Functional Analysis hybrid for Chopin op 28n4, attached below. Next up will be Bruckner and the Beatles and Duke Ellington, maybe those will be looking like something next week!
